Role summary
The ED Navigator will provide crucial support to young victims of violence attending Emergency Departments, aiming to reduce hospital admissions and serious violence. This role involves offering specialist advice, advocacy, and emotional support to victims and their families, while also supporting ED staff with a trauma-informed approach. The post holder will work closely with existing Navigators, ED Teams, the Violence Reduction Unit, and Humberside Police.

- Education/ Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification in any of the following: Youth & Community (JNC) Social Work (QSW) SEND Nursing (NMC)
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree, postgraduate knowledge supplemented by specialist training, experience, and short courses.
- Advocacy experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of statutory and voluntary organisations
- Excellent knowledge of Safeguarding Children/ Adults at Risk guidance/legislation/ initiatives
- Knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities
- Knowledge of the legal framework for information sharing
- Aware of legal issues relating to violence and abuse
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of Early Years and Child Development Understanding (completed Training) around mental health issues Safeguarding adults and/or children Level 3 training
- Domestic Abuse training Evidence of training relevant to Trauma Informed Practice and Adverse Childhood Experiences

Job summary
Two Band 6 (AfC) roles have been added to the safeguarding team to expand the successful Northbank ED Navigator programme across the Humber Bridge to our Emergency Departments on the Southbank.
Working closely with the exiting Navigators, Emergency Department Teams, Violence Reduction Unit and Humberside Police the ED Navigator will support victims of violence who attend the Emergency Department.
These posts are suitable for individuals with a professional healthcare registration, social care registration or significant experience in the police and/or judiciary system.
Main duties of the job
The main aim of the ED Navigator project is to provide additional support for young people within the wider community that attend Humber Health Partnership, Emergency Departments who have experienced violence with injury.The objectives are to facilitate a reduction in hospital admissions, serious violence and domestic homicides especially among those aged 11- 35 years who have been identified as being impacted by serious violence. This will be achieved through support and guidance to encourage engagement with services and promote movement away from violence.
