Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 mental health nurse to join the East Durham Community intervention and hub Team. You will work with adults experiencing enduring and complex mental health problems, including their carers and families, focusing on recovery and improving quality of life. The role involves developing leadership and clinical skills within a community setting, supporting patients through a combined pathway of care. You will collaborate with statutory and third sector agencies and benefit from regular supervision and professional development.
Essential criteria
- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
- To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Trained Clinical Supervisor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
- Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
- Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Working in partnership with other agencies
- Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
- Personal Attributes
- Able to work in accordance with the Staff Compact and Trust Values and Behaviours.
- Committed to continual quality and service improvement.
- Self-aware and committed to continual professional and personal development
- Able to accept and respond positively to feedback from supervision
- Committed to promoting a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

- Ability to travel independently in accordance with Trust policies and service need

Come and join the East Durham Community intervention and hub Team. The Team are looking for a Mental Health Nurse to join the team to aid our journey to change and improve the local community's experience with mental health services, adopting a "no wrong door approach".
