Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Psychology Assistant to join the Hackney Integrated Learning Disability Service. The role involves working directly with people with learning disabilities and their networks, delivering psychological assessments and interventions under supervision. Key responsibilities
- Work directly with people with learning disabilities and their networks.
- Deliver psychological assessments and interventions under the supervision of a clinical psychologist.
- Provide consultation and training to other providers.
- Participate in innovative research and service development projects.
- Receive regular supervision and access continuous professional development.
Essential criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1) with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
- At least 6 months experience working with people with learning disabilities or autism (including lived experience as a family member)
- Knowledge of research and policy relevant to people with learning disabilities
- Cultural competence and awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and be flexible
- Ability to use support and supervision
- Research skills at post-graduate level
Desirable criteria
- Masters Degree in Relevant Subject
- Further training in clinical skills (eg CBT, PBS, ADOS)
- Experience of working with people who present with behaviours of concern
- Experience of using standardised psychological and psychometric assessments
- Experience of conducting service related research and audit
- Fluent in a community language (eg Turkish, Bengali/Sylheti, Vietnamese etc)
- Skills in working with MDT colleagues
