Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Birmingham Community Dental Nursing team. The role involves providing high-quality clinical nursing support for dental specialties, maintaining patient care standards, and managing patients with complex needs. The post-holder will also support educational initiatives and ensure adherence to Trust policies and national targets. This is a permanent, part-time position requiring a Dental Sedation Certificate (IV and IHS).
Essential criteria
- A Dental Nurse qualification that enables registration with the General Dental Council i.e. NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing or Dental Nursing National Certificate in Dental Nursing / Gained entry onto GDC register via grand parenting (pre-2008)
- Registered with the General Dental Council
- Hold a post-registration qualification certificate or equivalent, and provide evidence of continual professional development, where relevant: Dental Sedation Nursing - Special Care Dental Nursing - Orthodontic Dental Nursing - Dental Radiography - Oral Health Education - Dental Implant Nursing
Desirable criteria
- Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or equivalent
- Significant experience in a wide range of dentistry
- Significant evidence of continued professional development relevant to the Specialty (IV/IHS)
- Computer literacy
- Demonstrate experience of supporting undergraduates and post-registration staff to deliver high quality patient care and achieve their required educational standards.
- Evidence service quality improvement bringing about improved patient outcomes.
- Evidence informal and formal assessment experience in an educational or healthcare environment
- Education

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Birmingham Community Dental Nursing team . Weare a multi-disciplinary team that carry out a variety of different dental treatments under local anaesthetic, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia.

Band 5 Specialist Dental Nurse
22.5 hours / 0.6 WTE - permanent post
Working days to be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.
The post-holder must hold a Dental Sedation Certificate (IV and IHS), be up to date with Sedation training and able to supply a copy of their CPD log relating to their Sedation specialism.
The post-holder must be flexible as travel to other sites/locations within the division may be required.
The Post Holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
