Role summary

This role involves leading, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Advances in Paediatric Critical Care. The postholder will design and deliver innovative educational programmes, provide academic and pastoral support to students, and participate in curriculum development. They will also work clinically in Paediatric Critical Care Level 3 to maintain expertise. The position requires collaboration with the HEI and Alder Hey Academy to ensure high-quality, evidence-based education.

Essential criteria

  • NMC registered sub group part one: children
  • Education to degree level 2:1 or above
  • Post registration qualification in Paediatric Intensive Care or equivalent.
  • APLS provider

Desirable criteria

  • Recognised Higher Education Qualification (PGCert), or willingness to work towards
  • Professional Nurse Advocate or willingness to undertake the course

Job summary

The PGCert in Advances in Paediatric Critical Care currently runs over two HEI semesters, the course curriculum is aligned with the PCCS Level 3 care educational standards and meets the recommendations set within the Paediatric Critical Care Getting It Right First Time report (GIRFT, 2022) & PCCS standards (2021). The postholder will be a member of the Paediatric Critical Care Faculty and work closely with the Programme Lead and other module leader's, to lead on & play a significant role in the design, delivery and evaluation of the programme. The postholder will be responsible for the development and use of a wide range of teaching and learning strategies for this clinically focused module to promote the development of post registration health professionals working within the multi-disciplinary team of Paediatric Critical Care Level 2 & 3 areas. The postholder will be required to work closely with the HEI team and become an active member of the PCCS-Educators sub group and attend quarterly meetings to contribute to the development of Paediatric Critical Care Educational standards, curriculum and Quality Assurance. The postholder will be required to work clinically as a 60/40 split in Paediatric Critical Care Level 3 to maintain
