Role summary

This role involves leading the development and delivery of evidence-based seasonal vaccination programmes across Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS FT, primarily focusing on staff and patient flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of an evidenced based seasonal vaccination programme.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of culturally sensitive and person-centred Trust vaccination programmes.
  • Continually review the delivery plan for optimum delivery and identification of lessons learned.
  • Support the identification of required peer vaccinators and ensure evidenced based training and supervision.
  • Lead the ongoing development of the seasonal vaccination service, including policies, SOPs, and guidance.
  • Provide clinical and managerial supervision to vaccinators within the service and clinical supervision to peer vaccinators.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • Trained in accordance with Immunisation National Standards
  • Mentorship Preparation/ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Expert knowledge and experience of vaccination delivery inc UK immunisations schedule and programmes.
  • Able to provide expert clinical advice to staff and patients in relation to delivery of the vaccination programmes being offered.
  • Requires expert knowledge of relevant legal frameworks related to vaccination consent which will need the post holder to have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to present information in a variety of contexts which may at times be contentious.
  • Experience of data collection, analysis and report writing. This will include ability to critically analyse sensitive, complex data and use problem-solving skills, to implement solutions
  • Experience of analysing data/information and be able to present this in a range of formats both formally/informally to share potential contentious information
  • Experience of leading the development and delivery of evidenced based training programmes

The key purpose of the role is to lead the development and delivery of an evidenced based seasonal vaccination programme across Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS FT.

The primary focus of this role will be the delivery of staff and patient flu vaccination programmes and COVID-19 vaccinations for patients. The scope of the role may, however, be extended in accordance with national, regional, and local priorities and service requirements.

The post holder will be operationally responsible for the seasonal vaccination team and will be the Trust subject matter expert in the delivery of any vaccination related programmes.

The post holder will also be expected to provide support to the Physical Health and Professional Practice portfolio workstreams as directed by line manager.
