Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Immunology Department at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves performing scientific analysis of biological samples using specialised laboratory equipment to aid in disease diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The successful applicant will also assist in training junior staff and maintain their professional development in Immunology. The Trust is supportive of employee development and offers opportunities for continuing professional development.
Essential criteria
- Health Professions Council (HCPC) for Registration
- Honours degree or equivalent in a biological science which is acceptable by Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)
- Completion of IBMS Registration Portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Working towards IBMS Specialist Portfolio
- Demonstrable experience in Clinical Immunology
- Experience of working in an NHS UKAS approved laboratory
- Experience in equipment validation and implementation
- Good interpretive skills at bench level
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrable experience of pipetting
- Basic computer skills
- Handling biological specimens
- Practical skills associated with GLP
- Knowledge of Phadia 250
- Familiarity with Quality Management Software
- Familiarity with Winpath software
- Knowledge of Immunofluoresence
- Desire and ability to relocate to the area
- Experience of training other members of staff
- Able to work autonomously and as a team member
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritise

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Immunology Department of our ISO15189:2022 accredited laboratory at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. We provide diagnostic and monitoring services to patients across a wide geographical area and support our acute services across both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole General Hospital within the Trust.
We are a supportive Trust interested in developing our employees. All relevant training will be provided and there are opportunities for continuing professional development for the successful applicant.
The One Dorset Pathology service unites Dorset County Hospital, Poole Hospital, and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals to deliver a high-quality, efficient, and consistent service. It is part of the national 'S6' pathology network, alongside Hampshire Hospitals, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Salisbury, and Southampton.
