Role summary
This fixed-term Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist role involves empowering children and young people in daily occupations. The post supports the Experts at Hand (EAH) Plan, working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues to provide enhanced services in early years, primary, and secondary school settings. The ideal candidate will be an experienced OT with a passion for school-based Paediatrics, motivated to develop skills and knowledge within a supportive environment.
Essential criteria
- GCSEs (including A -- C grade in English & Maths, or equivalent)
- Passes at A level (or equivalent)
- Diploma/Degree or MSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent overseas qualification
- Registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate paediatric training
- Documented evidence of Continuous Professional Development (E)
- Experience of working with children and young people (E)
- Experience of community work either pre/ post graduate (E)
- Post graduate experience of advanced clinical reasoning within a range of occupational performance components (Motor, Perception, cognitive, sensory, ADLS) including examples(E)
- Experience of supporting junior members of staff
- Demonstration of Specialist knowledge of paediatric conditions including DCD, cerebral palsy, autism, sensory processing needs (E)
- Specialist knowledge and experience of paediatric assessments and interventions (E)
- Specialist knowledge and experience of meeting the needs of families of children with complex needs (E)
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its application to community settings (E)
- An in depth knowledge of safeguarding issues including children and families(E)
- * Experience working within a paediatric community MDT.
- * Experience using standardised and non-standardised assessments with children/young people (D)
- * Extensive postgraduate clinical experience working with children and families (D)

This post is a fixed term position to support the Experts at Hand (EAH) Plan associated with the SEND Reform. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues to provide an enhanced service for early years, primary and secondary school settings. This role will include working within the core service alongside the EAH plan.
