Role summary
This Senior Staff Nurse role involves working clinically on a 22-bedded trauma and orthopaedic ward. The post includes a rotated Trauma Coordinator role among Band 6 staff and covering the Band 7 role during annual leave. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and expertise in managing complex trauma and orthopaedic patients, working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities
- Act as the clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to Nurses, Therapist and junior medical staff.
- Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team, motivating and supporting team members.
- Manage patient care according to agreed policies and protocols, identifying and mitigating risks.
- Closely monitor patients' status, ensuring accurate recording and interpretation of observations for timely corrective action.
- Undertake advanced nursing practices relevant to the clinical area when fully trained and competent.
- Ensure nursing procedures are performed in accordance with Bristol NHS Foundation Trust policies and local standard operating procedures.
Essential criteria
- RGN 1st level
- Current NMC Registration
- 1 st Degree in nursing or health related subject, willing to undertake/ working towards
- Relevant accredited post registration qualification at Level 3
- Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
- Appropriate post-registration experience in nursing, specialty
- Appropriate proven leadership and management experience
- Proven commitment and experience, evidence in teaching
