Role summary
The GI & Lymphoma Research Unit is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner for a one-year fixed-term contract. This role supports registered nurses and clinical staff in delivering high-quality clinical and research care to patients in clinical trials. The postholder will have direct patient contact, demonstrating compassion and empathy, and will work under supervision to assist with clinical and research care in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and Trust policies. Key duties include providing clerical, clinical, and sample processing support, with a lead role in tissue sample handling and survival follow-up for long-term clinical trials.
Essential criteria
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent)
- BTEC higher diploma or Foundation degree or Degree in relevant subject area (science or health and social care).

- some previous experience working in a healthcare setting
- Some previous experience working in clinical research and / or cancer setting

The GI & Lymphoma Research Unit is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Practitioner to join our research team on a one-year fixed-term contract.
The Assistant Practitioner is a valued member of the multidisciplinary research team, supporting registered nurses and other clinical staff in the delivery of high-quality clinical and research care to patients participating in clinical trials and research studies.
The role involves direct contact with patients and their families and requires the postholder to demonstrate compassion, empathy, dignity and sensitivity at all times.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Lead/Senior Research Nursing team and Senior Assistant Practitioner within the GI & Lymphoma Unit.
They will assist with the provision of clinical and research care for study participants in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Trust policies, and all applicable regulatory and governance requirements.
