Role summary
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic Paediatric nurse interested in Respiratory and Allergy nursing to join an innovative team. The role involves providing comprehensive care packages for children and young people with Respiratory and Allergic conditions in hospital and community settings. The post holder will participate in education for health professionals, schools, and families, and will be based between Royal Glamorgan Hospital and Princess of Wales Hospital, managing caseloads with the multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver responsive and flexible care and support to children and young people with respiratory and allergic disease, including eczema.
- Assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children.
- Provide specialist advice and education which is child and family centred.
- Participate in Health promotion initiatives, standard setting, and the audit process.
- Support and educate colleagues and other health care professionals.
- Participate in Consultant led clinics and perform investigations like Oral food challenges and lung function tests.
Essential criteria
- Registered Children's Nurse
- Professional knowledge acquired through Degree level relevant to healthcare.
- Significant post registration experience working within an acute paediatric setting
- Acute or community experience of working with Children with Respiratory and Allergic disease.
Desirable criteria
- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
- Teaching qualification or evidence of teaching experience within existing or previous role
- Good underpinning theoretical and practical knowledge of caring for children with Respiratory and Allergic disease.
- Experience of Quality improvement and Audit process
- Ability to deal with complex and difficult emotional situations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Paediatric nurse with an interest in Respiratory and Allergy nursing to join an innovative team of Paediatric and Atopic specialist nurses. The successful applicant will work as part of the team providing comprehensive care packages for children and young people with Respiratory and Allergic conditions, both in the hospital and community settings throughout Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB), to meet the changing needs of the Respiratory and Allergy service.
