Role summary
This role involves working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner within a dedicated team providing Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) to clients with severe physical disabilities. The successful applicant will travel throughout North London, Hertfordshire, and Luton, supporting clients, carers, and healthcare professionals in using EAT equipment. Essential criteria
- Foundation degree in OT, Long Term Conditions or other relevant subject, working towards or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK Driving License and eligibility to drive
- Experience working within a therapy team in a healthcare environment
- Experience working as part of a multi professional team.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of experience in equipment provision (eg routine community equipment)
- Evidence of experience in specialist EAT equipment provision.
- Experience working with patients with neurological conditions
- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of the therapy process.
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to reflect on own practice & participate in self development programmes
- Demonstrable effective time management and prioritisation
- An understanding of a range of neurological conditions and relevant terminology, and common problems.
- Knowledge of moving and handling principles in respect of patients and equipment
- Verbal and written communication skills and ability to build effective professional working relationships.
- Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities.
- Able to visit patients in their own homes including travel on public transport and/or driving
- Adaptable and flexible approach

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of Healthcare Professionals providing Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) to improve the independence and quality of life for clients with severe physical disabilities arising from a range of neurological and long-term progressive medical conditions.
The North Thames Regional Environmental Control Equipment Service (NT RECES) is a regional service which provides specialist equipment to enable clients to access appliances in their homes, such as TV, lights, telephone and pagers to call for assistance as well as means to access computer technology devices.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant for this role will be expected to travel throughout the Service area of the base at Mount Vernon Hospital, covering North London (West Central and East), Hertfordshire and Luton, supporting those referred to the service, working as part of a multi-disciplinary Team, to ensure the safe and effective provision of EAT equipment.
