Role summary
This role is for enthusiastic psychology graduates keen to gain experience for clinical psychology training. The primary focus is supporting data collection for Children and Young Peoples IAPT (CYP-IAPT), including outcome monitoring and service-user satisfaction. Responsibilities involve assisting clinical staff with routine outcome measures, data analysis, report generation, and staff training. There will also be opportunities for clinical work under supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.
Essential criteria
- Has an undergraduate degree in psychology with Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- This degree is either a 2(i) or a 2(ii) with a further postgraduate degree (MA, MSC, PhD etc)
Desirable criteria
- 1st class psychology degree
- Postgraduate degree (not already counted in criteria above)
- Other relevant work based training (other than mandatory training)
- Total years' experience as an assistant psychologist and/or research assistant is less than 5 years.
- Experience as an assistant psychologist in any specialty
- Experience as a research assistant
- Experience of CYP IAPT
- Experience of other audit or service development work
- Experience of working with children for 6 months or more (eg TA, residential worker, tutor)
- Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrates understanding of the importance of outcomes/audit/CYP IAPT principles
- Demonstrates database skills
- Demonstrates ability to write clearly and coherently such as is required in outcome reports
- Demonstrates knowledge of role of clinical psychology in the NHS and intention of joining the profession
- Description of knowledge and skills has been made specific to the post advertised (eg in CAMHS, mainly outcomes)
- Training and Qualifications

We are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated psychology graduates who are keen to gain experience in order to progress towards applied training in clinical psychology. The posts are focused upon supporting data collection processes for Children and Young Peoples IAPT (CYP-IAPT), including clinical outcome monitoring and service-user satisfaction. The role involves supporting clinical staff in using and interpreting routine outcomes measures, analysing data, producing reports and training staff in outcome measures. Having good IT skills and knowledge of Excel and SPSS would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are necessary to be able to liaise and support clinical staff and teams, and an interest in working with children and young people is essential. The posts will be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist. Although the primary task in this role is to support data collection there will be opportunities to undertake clinical work under supervision.
