Role summary
This role involves providing adult mental health social work services for eating disorder inpatient units, working closely with the directorate safeguarding lead. The post holder will be a vital member of multi-disciplinary teams, offering expertise in care, assessment, and treatment for patients with eating disorders. Responsibilities include liaising with external agencies, providing social care and mental health expertise, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The social worker will also fulfill statutory requirements as needed.
Essential criteria
- To hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social work England
- Significant post qualification experience of utilising a range of social work skills at post qualifying level in adult/mental health social work
- Significant knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 specific to the context of adult safeguarding procedures. Knowledge and understanding of responsibilities in safeguarding of vulnerable adults including domestic abuse
Desirable criteria
- To hold an AMPH warrant
- Evidence of networking within the Eating Disorders speciality
- Significant knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 specific to the context of adult safeguarding procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of responsibilities in safeguarding of vulnerable adults including domestic abuse
- Knowledge of adult mental health disorders and up to date knowledge of evidence based practice
- Knowledge and principles of social work supervision
- Knowledge and understanding of diversity and equality issues and their application in adult mental health
- Knowledge of key legislation central to the implementation of a professional social work service within an eating disorder service
- Working knowledge of childcare legislation, statutory guidance and London Child Protection procedures
- Experience of implementing a social work service in a complex multi-disciplinary, multi - agency setting
- Experience of preparing complex, high quality reports with clear recommendations and presenting these within formal settings
- Experience and understanding of applying evidence - based approaches and best practice principles in working with service users and their families
- Experience of working with diverse multi -cultural communities and of working with interpreters
- Ability to collate and analyse complex information, make autonomous decisions and contribute to complex problem solving
- The ability to effectively manage time and competing demands in high pressured environment
- Ability to liaise with and offer highly specialist consultation to other agencies effectively
- Ability to provide specialist assessments and formulate effective social work and therapeutic interventions

Job summary
To provide an adult mental health social work service for the eating disorder inpatient services. To work closely with the directorate safeguarding lead to provide and coordinate the delivery of adult social work provision for the service. To be an active and vital member of the multi-disciplinary teams using knowledge and skills to support colleagues in the delivery of care, assessment and treatment to patients with an eating disorder.
