Role summary
Knoll Medical Practice is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Registered General Practice Nurse (GPN) to join their clinical team. The role involves providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, with a focus on long-term condition management. The successful candidate will work autonomously within their scope of practice, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development within a progressive primary care setting.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Adult Nurse (RN Adult/RGN).
- A recognised and completed General Practice Nursing (GPN) qualification or equivalent recognised qualification demonstrating full preparation for practice nursing.
- Significant post-registration nursing experience.
- Substantial experience working within general practice/primary care.
- Demonstrable experience of long-term condition management.
- Competence across a broad range of general practice nursing skills.
- Good knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and control.
- Understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding and professional accountability.
- Ability to work autonomously within professional scope of practice.
- Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate deteriorating or seriously unwell patients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Good IT skills and confidence using electronic clinical records.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development.
- Commitment to working in accordance with the NMC Code and relevant professional standards.
Desirable criteria
- Independent Nurse Prescriber (V300) qualification.
- Experience of prescribing within primary care.
- Formal Infection Prevention and Control training.
- Experience contributing to IPC audits or supporting an IPC lead.
- Experience of clinical audit and quality improvement.
- Knowledge of QOF, enhanced services and primary care contractual requirements.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary PCN environment.
- Cervical cytology qualification and current competency.
- Adult and childhood immunisation and vaccination competency.
- Strong diabetes management experience, including insulin management where appropriate.
- Asthma and COPD management experience.
- Spirometry competency.
- Doppler and compression therapy experience.
- Wound care and leg ulcer management experience.
- Travel health/vaccination experience.
- Family planning/contraception experience.
- Experience supporting frailty and housebound patients.
- Experience using EMIS Web.
- Experience using clinical data, recalls and population health approaches to improve patient outcomes.
- Experience supporting students, trainees or junior clinical colleagues.

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered General Practice Nurse (GPN) to join our friendly and supportive clinical team.
This is a varied general practice nursing role within a busy and progressive practice. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in long-term condition management, alongside the broader skills required to work effectively as a General Practice Nurse.
The successful candidate will work autonomously within their professional scope of practice while working closely with our GPs, nursing team, HCAs, pharmacists, care coordinators and wider PCN multidisciplinary team.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the practice's wider work around long-term condition management, infection prevention and control, clinical governance, quality improvement, QOF and service development. You will not be expected to lead these areas but will be an important part of the team contributing to their continued development.
