Role summary
This role involves supporting advanced practitioner radiographers and radiologists within the Breast screening radiology team, primarily assisting in the ultrasound room with patient procedures and setting up sterile trolleys. The assistant will also help radiographers in clinics, process PACS images, and perform office duties like booking appointments. The position requires working across both Winchester and Basingstoke hospital sites as needed, ensuring high standards of patient care and departmental cleanliness.
Essential criteria
- oGCSE's in English and Maths (or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, employment or voluntary work)
Desirable criteria
- oFirst Aid/Basic Life Support. oIT certificate

- oUnderstand the role and responsibilities of the post. oNVQ 3 or equivalent in healthcare
- oPrevious experience in a Radiology department. oPrevious experience in an NHS hospital or care facility.
- Skills and ability
- oAbility to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients. oAbility to use own initiative. oGood organisational skills and can manage time effectively. oAbility to understand and follow instructions. oLiterate, with a keen sense of accuracy. oCompetent computer skills.
- Knowledge of PACS, CRIS, NBSS

- oGood general health to meet the demands of the post, which include some manual handling requirements. oGood sickness record.

Job summary
To work as part of the Breast screening radiology team supporting advanced practitioner radiographers and radiologists in their role, in order to enhance departmental processes and optimise equipment utilisation, and clinic times.
To work in various clinical areas as required. To be able to work in The Breast Screening Departments at RHCH and at BNH, where required, due to clinic needs.
Main duties of the job
The main duty of the RDA will be to assist the radiologist in the ultrasound room, with patients setting out sterile trolleys and helping with procedures, both in Winchester and Basingstoke hospitals as required.
There are other roles involved, including helping the radiographers in clinics, PACS processing of images both in the department and to and from mobile vans. Roles within the office would include booking appointments by phone, and computer, so some computer skills would be essential.
