Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join East Cheshire NHS Trust as a Specialist Medicines Safety Pharmacist. It combines dedicated medicines safety responsibilities with clinical pharmacy rotations, allowing development as both a specialist and a highly skilled clinical pharmacist. The post involves promoting safe and effective use of medicines, supporting incident learning, and contributing to quality improvement. Essential criteria

- Masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm)
- One year pre-registration training
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Clinical diploma (minimum 1st year or 40 credits completed)

- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
- Independent Prescriber
- Knowledge & Skills
- Good understanding of pharmacy in secondary care
- Up to date CPD portfolio
- Appreciation of the value of equality diversity and inclusion
- Professional at all times
- Organised and able to manage own time.
- Standard keyboard skills
- Work autonomously with minimal supervision, also with an awareness of own limitations knowing when to escalate
- Exercise advanced clinical judgement skills to make and implement complex decisions
- Leadership
- Excellent Clinical Prioritisation
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good time management
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Ability to problem solve
- Self-motivating and ability to motivate others
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience
- Experience using electronic prescribing systems
- Preparation of protocols or guidelines
- Mentoring and training others in a healthcare setting

This unique role combines dedicated medicines safety responsibilities with clinical pharmacy rotations, offering the opportunity to develop as both a specialist and a highly skilled clinical pharmacist. You will work closely with our Medicines Safety Officer, multidisciplinary teams and pharmacy colleagues to promote the safe and effective use of medicines, support learning from incidents, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and help shape safer systems of care across the Trust.
