Role summary

This role is for a motivated and highly organised Ward Sisters Administrator to join the team on 5 North at Royal Papworth Hospital, a cardiothoracic surgical ward. The administrator will provide essential support to Ward Sisters and the clinical team, focusing on clinical staffing matters, electronic rotas, staff induction, and workforce management. The position requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively. It is a part-time opportunity for 30 hours per week, with potential for job share, offering mentorship and protected learning time.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ III in Administration or Customer Service or equivalent qualification or experience
  • or
  • Educated to GCSE Level 4, or equivalent in English and Maths or equivalent qualification or experience

Desirable criteria

  • European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience
  • The ability to communicate basic or sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives.
  • The ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage.
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality administrative support.
  • Able to organise, prioritise and adjust own and others workload in relation to the priorities of the department over timescales.
  • The ability to suggest & demonstrate changes to own practice.
  • Demonstrates personal duty of care in relation to the safe use of equipment and other resources.
  • Maintains the quality in own work with the ability to suggest changes to own practice.
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS.
  • Previous experience of working in a customer facing role.
  • Experience in minute taking and organising meetings.

Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Ward Sisters Administrator to join our team on 5 North at Royal Papworth Hospital. 5 North is a 41 bedded cardiothoracic surgical ward, specialising in heart and lung transplantation, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy and artificial heart devices. We are a committed, diverse and friendly nursing team. Who promote an open and honest, inclusive culture to deliver a high standard of safe and quality care to our patients.

The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload effectively. You will be a confident communicator, able to build positive working relationships across the multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a flexible and responsive approach to the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

As the Ward Sisters Administrator, you will work closely with the Wards Sisters and clinical team to maintain ward functionality. You will provide administrative support in relation to clinical staffing matters, ensuring the smooth running of electronic rotas, induction of new staff, day-to-day workforce management and ensure that adequate stationery stocks are held, managed and ordered in a timely manner.
