Role summary
This role is for a Ward Manager on the Renal wards, providing clinical expertise and visible leadership. The manager will support staff to ensure high standards of holistic care, directly manage ward areas and nursing staff, and develop guidelines based on current research. Responsibilities include monitoring care standards, managing staff development, and implementing specialised nursing packages. Key responsibilities
- Ensure all care delivered is evidence based and guidelines are up to date.
- Monitor standards of care using fundamentals of care audit framework.
- Selection, deployment, training and development of staff and students.
- Assess, develop and implement specialised nursing packages of care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Create and support an environment of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
- Deliver specialist haemodialysis treatments including HDF & SLED in acute setting and specialist respiratory care acute CPAP, Optiflow and Bipap.
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse, Degree Level or relevant experience Renal specialist qualification or equivalent experience
- Teaching & Mentorship qualification SSSA or equivalent Experience in acute care setting and NIV therapy Haemodialysis experience.

- Level 6 degree or Msc level 7
- Knowledge and skills
- Excellent interpersonal Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Audit and standard setting Knowledge of recruitment, selection and disciplinary procedures

- ICT skills Presentation and teaching skill

- Previous experience in Renal Nursing to include haemodialysis care.

- Experience and knowledge of Transplantation, peritoneal dialysis and general and advanced kidney care

We are offering a ward manager role on our Renal wards. Can you Provide Clinical Expertise and visible leadership and support for the Renal acute care unit and Renal Wards. Enable staff to ensure that the fundamentals of care are correctly and actively in place and that highest standards of holistic care are achieved in the delivery of care and treatment. Directly manage the ward areas and the nursing staff. The expectations of this role will be met by professional leadership, skilled and expert practice and management, direct clinical care, education and training.
