Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Reproductive Technologist to join the Cambridge IVF laboratory team. The role involves performing diagnostic procedures within the Diagnostic Andrology laboratory, contributing to a patient-focused fertility service. Full training will be provided, and there may be scope for an In-Service Trainee post on the National Scientific Training Programme. The successful candidate will work to UKAS accredited standards and deal with the public in a polite and compassionate manner.
Essential criteria
- 1st or 2:1 undergraduate degree in a Biological Science

- Experience in working in a ISO 15189 accredited hospital laboratory or clinic
- Experience working in a diagnostic andrology laboratory or clinical embryology laboratory

- Experience with Surgical Sperm Retrieval procedures
- Experience with HFEA consent forms and the HFEA PRISM system
- Use of IDEAS or other relevant fertility databases
- Experience in working to best practice guidelines, relevant codes of practice and following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Knowledge of the male and female reproductive systems and the causes of infertility and subfertility
- Knowledge of the basic principles of diagnostic andrology
- Knowledge of semen cryopreservation
- Knowledge of relevant legislation

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen due to service expansion for 1 Reproductive Technologist to join our laboratory team at Cambridge IVF (Cambridge site). This state of the art NHS fertility centre offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and clinical treatment services and encompasses the regional diagnostic andrology service for Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area, with capacity for up to 7000 semen analyses per annum.
Cambridge IVF is without doubt one of the most forward thinking units in the UK and with a commitment to high level research and development. Coupled with our links into existing local research groups, this is a very exciting time to be joining our team.
Applicants should possess a First or Second Class Biological Sciences degree. A relevant postgraduate qualification and laboratory experience are highly desirable but full training will be provided to all successful candidates. You will have the opportunity to work across our Andrology and Embryology Laboratories to a UKAS accredited standard in accordance with the requirements of ISO15189:2022 and in accordance with the HFEA Code of Practice for fertility centres.
The position will require some weekend, bank-holiday and out of hours work on a rotational basis.
