Role summary
Ward 15 at UHCW is seeking an experienced Band 5 Paediatric Nurse to care for babies aged 0-2 years requiring medical and surgical interventions. The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, effective care, and supporting patients and their families. Applicants must have completed their preceptorship programme and possess excellent clinical and communication skills. The Trust offers a welcoming team and opportunities for professional development.
Key responsibilities
- Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team.
- Supervise/provide mentorship to a small number of learners or junior staff.
- Responsible for co-ordination and clinical assessment of a group of patients, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.
- Participate in observations of care, audit and development of service to improve quality of care.
- Demonstrate technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient care management including patient observations, equipment management and administration of agreed invasive tests/procedures.
Essential criteria
- Current Professional Registration (RSCN)/Child Branch
- Diploma level education
- First level degree or willingness to undertake.
- Completion of Preceptorship Programme.
- Teaching and Assessing qualification.
- Recent post-registration acute Paediatric clinical experience.
- Patient focused.
- Good communication skills.
- IT skills.
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Good management of own and others time
- Able to use initiative and make decisions
- Knowledge of the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Able to apply evidence to practice.
- Awareness of clinical governance & a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development.
