Role summary
This is a Bank Pharmacy Technician position to cover maternity leave for 6 months, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines within SHSC NHS Foundation Trust. Key responsibilities
- Participate in the technical support necessary for the safe and effective dispensing of prescriptions.
- Undertake the SHSC system of ward top up safely and effectively.
- Provide safe and effective supply of pharmaceuticals to units within SHSC and other designated units.
- If eligible and trained, undertake accuracy checking of prescriptions.
- Participate in early morning, late night, weekend, and bank holiday rota.
- Give advice to staff and service users, providing information on local guidelines and policies.
- Order any medicines required for service users and ward stocks.
- Maintain continued professional development (CPD).

- Registration with GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
- Previous pharmacy experience
- Able to demonstrate a conscientious and methodical way of working.
- Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changes in working practice.
- Able to demonstrate a willingness to travel to undertake work in other Trust units throughout the city.
- An understanding of working with mentally ill clients

- Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy

Job summary

There is a requirement to be confident and able to work with service users, carers, and healthcare professionals internally and other organisations to ensure the service users are safe with their medicines.
Under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist and the Senior Pharmacy Technicians, the post holder will perform whatever duties are reasonable and necessary to achieve the job purpose and overall safe provision of pharmacy services throughout the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the senior pharmacy technician, lead pharmacist and pharmacy team in providing pharmacy services to SHSC providing the following services:
Participate in the technical support necessary for the safe and effective dispensing of prescriptions including inpatient, outpatient and discharge medications and the distribution of medicines to the designated units of SHSC under the supervision of a senior technician and pharmacist.
Undertake the SHSC system of ward top up safely and effectively to designated unit
