Role summary
Join an innovative Speech and Language Therapy Service at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. This fixed-term role focuses on assessing and evaluating children with communication difficulties, developing interventions, and mentoring carers and staff. You will contribute to reducing waiting times and ensuring timely support for children and young people. The service is committed to continuous development to meet clinical needs.
Essential criteria
- Relevant professional qualification (1st degree level or equivalent)
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and Health Professions Council
- Must have completed NQT competencies
Desirable criteria
- 2:1 at degree level / distinction at Masters level
- Experience of working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties. This includes pre-qualification experience and also experienced gained whilst on student placement.
- Experience of working with relatives and carers.
- Experience working as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with children with communication difficulties.
- Experience of providing advice on client management to other health professionals, carers and non-specialist health colleagues.
- Experience of working in educational settings.
- Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions appropriate for including those with complex needs.
- Knowledge of Education Health Care Plans and SEN processes.
- Knowledge of professional and clinical guidelines relevant to the client group.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and required standards of record keeping.
- Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group).
