Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Podiatrist to join the Podiatry service in East Lancashire. The role involves providing holistic care to a diverse patient caseload, including those with diabetes, rheumatology, and wound care needs. The successful candidate will develop clinical and leadership skills, work closely with other healthcare professionals, and participate in service development. It requires a positive attitude towards professional development and the ability to travel across clinical locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and treat a caseload of patients, providing comprehensive assessment and planned podiatric care.
  • Take responsibility for the continuing care of patients with conditions like diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Participate in the nail surgery rota and provide aftercare.
  • Undertake biomechanical treatment, prescribe orthotics, and provide chairside orthotics.
  • Conduct Level 2 diabetes foot screens and undertake domiciliary visits.
  • Provide appropriate Podiatry health education and advice to patients.

Essential criteria

  • BSc in Podiatric Medicine/ Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
  • Certificate in Local Analgesia
  • Health Care Professions Council registered
  • Experience of NHS working or student placement experience
  • Ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical work
  • Demonstrate the ability to use sensory and vascular equipment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work alone with supervision available
  • Hold a current driving licence
  • Ability to be able to travel across all clinical locations when required

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Band 5 Podiatrist to join the Podiatry service based within the East Lancashire Locality. The post offers the fantastic opportunity for you to further develop your clinical and leadership skills in the role of band 5 Podiatrist.

The ELHT Podiatry service provides a dynamic, flexible, responsive and solution focused holistic service for a patient caseload including patients with Diabetes, Rheumatology, Vascular, Connective Tissue Diseases, Tissue Viability and Wound care conditions.

The successful candidate requires a positive attitude to personal and professional development for themselves and the Podiatry Service.

The working hours may be worked over 7 days between the hours of 8am-8pm.

Main duties of the job

The Podiatry Service works very closely with primary and secondary care and social care and works with a wide range of health care professionals including Consultants, GPs, Social Services, District Nurses, Treatment Room staff, Nursing Staff.

The Podiatry Service undertakes primarily high risk clinical work including wound care, nail surgery, biomechanics, and emergency clinics. The Podiatry Service does not provide a social nail cutting service.
