Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Paediatric Dietitian to join a friendly team. Key responsibilities
- Work as an experienced autonomous practitioner to provide high standard patient-focused care through specialised assessment of infants and babies with various nutritional needs.
- Plan and deliver a high-quality service to babies, children, and their families/carers.
- Participate in student training, supervision, and assessment.
- Contribute to the therapy clinical governance agenda to improve the quality of the paediatric service.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the paediatric dietetic service, working with the Paediatric Team Lead to identify and implement improvements.
- Independently manage a defined caseload of paediatric inpatients and outpatients, including children with complex nutritional needs.
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration dietetic experience including experience of independently managing and prioritising a clinical caseload, undertaking nutritional assessment and developing, implementing and evaluating individualised dietetic care plans
- Experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork
- Experience of teaching groups of patients and healthcare staff
- Experience of working with parents, carers in the management of paediatric nutritional problems
- Excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy skills.
- The ability to undertake comprehensive nutritional assessment, including interpretation of anthropometric, dietary, biochemical and clinical information
- Evidence of excellent written skills.
- Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team working.
- Able to research evidence based practice and apply to practice.
- Experience of assessing/managing paediatric nutritional needs.
- Able to work to time schedules to meet clinical needs of patients.
- Ability to implement practice supervision
- Evidence of training professionals in formal and informal settings
