Role summary

This role involves supporting the Trust's Sickness Absence Improvement Programme by providing expert guidance on attendance management and promoting employee wellbeing. The advisor will work with managers to analyze workforce data, identify improvements, and implement sustainable solutions. They will also contribute to projects aligned with the Trust's People Strategy and organisational objectives. This is a key role within a dynamic People Services team.

Key responsibilities

  • Organise and deliver appropriate People Services training initiatives.
  • Support managers in implementing the sickness absence policy and reviewing reasonable adjustments.
  • Audit and monitor attendance to ensure policy and procedure adherence.
  • Assist managers in developing strategies to reduce long and short-term absence.
  • Provide professional People Services advice and guidance.
  • Contribute to developing the equality agenda for colleagues.

Essential criteria

  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualified or equivalent experience, and Member of the CIPD
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience within an HR related field of study
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Generalist Human Resources knowledge and experience
  • Experience of interpreting and advising on terms and conditions and application of policies and procedures
  • Experience of employee relations gained within a unionised environment
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation
  • Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Effective oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to colleagues at all levels.
  • Effective written communication skills including report writing
  • Good analytical skills including the ability to interpret information and make recommendations supported by relevant information.
  • Able to prioritise, organise and manage a diverse workload to meet deadlines and service requirements
  • Able to contribute to the design and delivery of training and learning events for colleagues at all levels
  • Able to exercise initiative
  • Able to work within a team and autonomously, with an understanding of when it is appropriate to escalate
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and proactive People Services Advisor to play a key role in delivering the Trust's Sickness Absence Improvement Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to support managers across the organisation to improve attendance, promote employee wellbeing and deliver positive workforce outcomes.

Acting as a trusted advisor, the post holder will provide expert guidance on attendance management, support the analysis of workforce data, identify opportunities for service improvement and work collaboratively with managers to implement sustainable solutions. Working as part of a dynamic People Services team, the post holder will contribute to projects and initiatives that directly support the Trust's People Strategy and organisational objectives.

Main duties of the job
