Role summary
The IAPT Gateway Worker will join the Ealing NHS Talking Therapies service, a well-established team providing a range of therapies. Key responsibilities
- Work within a team of three to cover the duty desk for the service.
- Provide advice on risk management, safeguarding, and appropriate onward referrals.
- Liaise with other services and follow up on referrals.
- Screen incoming referrals and engage in clinical discussions and decision-making.
- Run and develop specialist safeguarding training with the service.
- Review incident reports and provide feedback and learnings to clinicians.
Essential criteria
- Registered Practitioner with a core profession: Counselling psychologist, clinical psychologist, social worker, RMN, RNLD and OT with secondary care mental health experience.
- 2 years post qualification experience
- Experience of Liaising with other services regarding incoming and outgoing referrals
- Experiencing of working on a risk duty system
- Understanding of issues surrounding clinical risk
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
- Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
Desirable criteria
- Completion of level 4 Adult and Child Safeguarding lead training
- Experience of working in a community setting providing secondary and primary care mental health services.
- Experience of working in /or with psychological services.
- Experience of CBT or other evidence based psychotherapies.
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
- Experience of facilitating service user groups.

Job summary
Ealing NHS Talking Therapies was one of the first Talking Therapies services to launch in 2008, and is one of the three services provided by West London NHS Trust. We are a large team of over 70 members of staff and are currently working on further expansion. Our main base is in Ealing where we have access to over 16 clinic rooms and two open plan offices. In addition to this, we run clinics at GP surgeries across the borough, covering areas such as Southall, Acton, and Chiswick. Our service is well-established and many of our staff have been with us since the beginning.
Ealing Talking Therapies is passionate about offering a great quality therapy to our patients and we are very proud to be able to consistently offer all the Talking Therapies-approved therapies, such as EMDR, DIT, IPT, BCT, and CfD. To that effect, we are committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of our staff and training in additional Talking Therapies modalities is highly encouraged. We have close links with our neighboring services (H&F and Hounslow) and share our CPD events with them, providing an opportunity to link up with our colleagues across the Trust.
