Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Practitioner to join the team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The role involves providing high-quality, timely care to patients with minor illness and injury in a fast-paced environment. As a senior member, you will be involved in clinical and managerial aspects, independently managing and discharging adult patients from the Minor Injuries Unit. The position requires excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills, working across multiple sites.
Essential criteria
- oStudy at level 6 (Degree/Diploma) in healthcare. oCurrent Professional Registration NMC/HCPC oEvidence of continuing professional development oRecognised academically credited Emergency Practitioner Course (Minor Injury/Minor Illness) oTeaching and assessment qualification and is currently teaching sessions. oPiLs/ ILS course oAdvanced Health Assessment oAssessors in date
Desirable criteria
- oLeadership qualification or completion of a leadership course oALS and EPALS courses oNon-Medical Prescriber
- oExperienced Emergency Practitioner with substantial experience as a Band 6 qualified Emergency Practitioner in adult/ children's emergency care. oFamiliarity and quality assurance of nursing audit. oConflict management oExperience of independently managing patients with minor injury/illness in emergency care setting. oExperience of mentoring and supporting junior staff oChange management experience.
- oExperience in research and audit. oExperience of Policy/Service development oExperience of service development and project work oEvidence of conference presentation or journal publication
- oA knowledgeable practitioner with the ability to critically analyse research and apply to the practice setting. oEvidence of research/audit of practice oEvidence of knowledge/ understanding of collaborative practice and the Emergency Practitioner role. oA sound knowledge of professional policies and procedures oKnowledge of clinical governance and a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development oGood understanding of NHS issues

Job summary
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust provide emergency services at our purpose built Minor Injuries Unit based at UHCW and also at our Urgent Treatment Centre based at St Cross Hospital in Rugby and City of Coventry Health Centre. All sites have dedicated facilities and allocated staff to provide care 7 days a week 24 hours a day. The practitioner within the Minor Injuries Unit/Urgent Treatment Centre is a clinical expert playing a key role in delivering high quality, timely care to patients presenting with minor illness and injury. This is a fast paced, independent role requiring excellent clinical reasoning and decision making skills.
Applicants must hold either a Level 6 or 7 PG Cert/PG diploma in minor injury/illness with demonstratable experience in urgent and emergency care.
