Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated CBT Therapist to join the Mansfield & Ashfield Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Nottinghamshire. The therapist will deliver evidence-based CBT interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, primarily within educational settings. They will manage their own clinical caseload, conduct assessments, develop formulations, and provide high-quality therapeutic interventions. The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to service development and evaluation.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based CBT interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, primarily in educational settings.
- Undertake assessments, develop CBT formulations, and provide high-quality therapeutic interventions.
- Manage an autonomous clinical caseload, including clinical decision-making, risk assessment, treatment planning, and outcome evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, schools, families, and partner agencies as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialist CBT consultation, advice, and support to team members and educational settings.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice, participate in supervision, and share specialist knowledge.
Essential criteria
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in line with professional development and maintenance of accreditation with BABCP.
Desirable criteria
- Other psychotherapy qualification (e.g. EMDR, Counselling, DIT,IPT). Training in LTC/MUS
- Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Accredited High Intensity Worker.
- BABCP accreditation.
- Actively working towards accreditation.
- Other professional Mental Health Qualification.
- Core profession (RMN, OT, RGN)
- Experience of working in mental health or psychological therapy services.
- Significant experience in assessing for and managing risk.
- Experience of working within a target driven service. Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets.
- Ability to manage own caseload and time, and work under pressure.
- Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, preferably within a Stepped Care model.
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits & employment systems.
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
- Advanced communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships.
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, & in own personal and professional development and in supervision.

- Contractual Requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation.
- The service is provided between 09:00-5:00 Monday-Friday.
