Role summary
Join our nursing team as a Staff Nurse on Beechdale Ward, an Older Adult mental health ward in Calderdale. You will be involved in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for service users, usually over 65, with various mental health conditions. The role requires working flexibly within a 24/7 rota and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported to develop clinical competencies in a stimulating learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to an integrated team providing high quality care and treatment individually and in group programmes.
- Be responsible and accountable for the Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of treatment and care for defined service users.
- Utilise core nursing / specialist skills within the role of primary nurse.
- Work flexibly to cover shifts to provide a 365 day per year service and act as shift co-ordinator as required.
- Maintain accurate and up to date care plans for each service user and contribute to statistical service records.
- Develop good working relationships with consultants, their teams, and other services to ensure effective service delivery.
Essential criteria
- 1st Level Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the register.

- Relevant post basic qualifications.
- CBT/PSI.
- Experience of mentoring/supporting learners or ability to demonstrate the skills required for effective mentoring.

- Knowledge of key worker/primary nurse system.
- Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team/working with other disciplines.

- Implementation of the Care Programme Approach.
- Experience of leading and supervising junior/unqualified staff.
- Experience of working with a care pathway approach toward recovery.

We are currently seeking a motivated and dynamic individual
to join our nursing team as a Staff Nurse on our Older Adult ward in Calderdale,
known as Beechdale Ward.
Beechdale is a mixed gender ward based at The Dales Unit, Calderdale
Royal Hospital and is for the assessment and treatment of any form of mental
health condition for service users usually over the age of 65 years. Our
multi-disciplinary ward team also comprises Occupational Therapists,
Physiotherapy, a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist and Consultant Psychologist.
As part of your role as a staff nurse on the ward you will
be involved in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
Under the guidance of the nursing team, you will be supported in developing
skills that will allow you to provide the highest standard of inpatient
assessment, treatment, and care in a safe, therapeutic, and least restrictive
environment as possible.
