Role summary
This Specialist Nurse role involves collaborating with the Neurological Clinical Team to provide high-quality care for patients in Specialist Outpatient Clinics. The post holder will contribute to service development, facilitate innovation, and act as a professional role model. They will exercise autonomy in making critical judgments to provide holistic care for patients with Epilepsy, and will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist care programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to service development and facilitate evidence-based nursing.
- Act as a professional role model and empower staff development.
- Liaise with the MDT to facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Exercise professional autonomy and make critical judgements in patient care.
- Provide clinical leadership and work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, patients, relatives, and carers.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist programmes of care.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on NMC Register
- Minimum of 3 years post registration experience to include 12 months leadership role
- Experience of working with people with Parkinsons
- Supplementary prescribing
Desirable criteria
- Teaching and assessing/mentorship qualification

Job summary
The Specialist Nurse will work in collaboration with the Neurological Clinical Team and the Directorate Team to provide management of care of the highest quality to all patients accessing the Specialist Outpatient Clinics.
Main duties of the job
Contributing to the development of the service, facilitating innovation and evidence based Nursing through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
Act as a credible and professional role model, encourage and empower staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
Liaise with the MDT and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.
The post holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and make critical judgements using specialist knowledge and skills in order to provide the highest standard of holistic care for patients with Epilepsy
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and work in partnership with the multidisciplinary teams, patients, relatives and carers in managing the clinical caseload for the patient cohort.
The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist programmes of care and provide support to both patients and families.
