Essential criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Significant post-registration experience as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist including experience in rehabilitation and complex discharge planning
  • Experience working with patients with complex physical, cognitive and social care needs.
  • Experience leading or contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience of managing, supervising and appraising staff.
  • Experience building effective collaborative relationships across organisational boundaries.
  • Demonstrable leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong organisational and operational management skills and ability to work autonomously and prioritise competing demands.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate learning in rehabilitation, leadership or service improvement

We are seeking an experienced Therapy Clinical and Operational Lead to join the new Burren Intermediate Care Beds Service.

The Burren is a newly commissioned service, currently funded for one year. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in establishing the therapy service, developing the team and embedding effective rehabilitation pathways from the outset.

Working as part of the service leadership team, you will provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for the therapy workforce. You will help shape a high-quality, responsive service that supports rehabilitation, recovery, safe discharge and effective patient flow across BNSSG.

The Burren Intermediate Care Beds Service provides a dedicated step-down pathway for people who no longer require acute hospital care but continue to need rehabilitation, recovery support, assessment and multidisciplinary discharge planning.

The service comprises 32 intermediate care beds, alongside an additional bariatric pathway. It works closely with acute hospitals, community services, local authority partners and voluntary sector organisations to promote independence, reduce unnecessary
