Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards, particularly in admission areas, ensuring safe and effective medicine use. They will also support medicine optimisation initiatives and supervise newly qualified and trainee pharmacists. Weekend, bank holiday, and on-call duties are required.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy service to inpatient wards, particularly admission areas.
- Ensure high quality, safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines.
- Support Medicine optimisation initiatives.
- Support, train and supervise newly qualified pharmacist and trainee pharmacists.
- Undertake Weekend, bank holiday and On-call duties according to rota.
Essential criteria
- Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Experience of liaising with other healthcare professionals e.g. consultants, GPs
- Acute hospital experience post registration or other relevant experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good verbal communication and counselling skills with ill patients and relatives
- Clinical knowledge of current therapeutics and practice
- Organisation and prioritisation of clinical work
- Accuracy
- Analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Experience of using Microsoft Office
- Problem solving and risk assessment
