Role summary
This is a fixed-term maternity cover role for a Specialist Medicines Management Nurse. The role involves developing, educating, leading, and supporting healthcare professionals in medicines management across the central secondary care site and other Health Board teams. The successful candidate will influence and implement improvements in medicines management practices, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A comprehensive understanding of current NHS medicines management initiatives and relevant legislation is essential.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Relevant First Degree or can demonstrate willingness to achieve within three years of appointment, supplemented by specialist professional knowledge of education and development practice to Masters level equivalent

- Management qualification
- Experience of Clinical Practice at senior level
- Up to date in nursing practice
- Teaching qualification or evidence of teaching experience
- Evidence of management experience
- Experience of service improvement
- An in-depth understanding of the quality and safety agenda

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about patient safety and the management of medicines.
This is a challenging and rewarding role involving the development, education, leadership and support of healthcare professionals working with medicines across the central secondary care site and liaising with other sites and teams across the Health Board.
You should be self-motivated with excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with and influence senior clinical staff, members of the multidisciplinary team across all directorates of the site. You will need to develop good working relationships between nursing, pharmacy and other clinical staff and be able to influence, design and implement improvement in medicines management practices.
