Role summary

The Payroll Support Officer will assist the NHS Payroll team in administering payroll, pensions, and expenses records. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate data flow for pay, responding to queries from staff and managers, and maintaining accurate databases. The successful candidate will need strong numerical and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This is a busy office environment requiring a conscientious team player.

Essential criteria

  • oMinimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths oECDL or equivalent computer skills as a minimum oNVQ 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience
  • oClerical experience. Keyboard skills oExperience of basic office processes

  • oPayroll Office experience oExperience in a busy office environment oExperience of using Employee Staff Record (ESR)
  • oUnderstanding of mathematical concepts and operations. oWorking knowledge of Excel Office based knowledge
  • oUnderstanding of HMRC regulations
  • oAbility to work to under pressure Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise Excellent telephone skills oAbility to work with speed whilst ensuring attention to detail and accuracy

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Payroll Support Officer, to help support the administration of NHS Payroll team, you will be based within our busy Payroll Department ensuring the delivery of a high quality service to our work force and external organisations.

You will support the Payroll Team and Payroll Management ensuring all processes within the department is adhered to in a timely and accurate manner. You will work closely with Pensions, Human Resources, and Expenses

You will need to have strong numerical and communication skills, along with the ability to work methodically and show attention to detail. This is an interesting role and we are looking for a conscientious team player who will ensure our high standards and positive reputation is maintained.

Working within the NHS you will be eligible for all our great benefits including NHS pension and salary sacrifice schemes.
