Role summary

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to work within the Islington MDT Stroke and Neuro Team. The role involves providing assessment, advisory, and treatment services to community clients with neurological conditions. You will work flexibly with the team to deliver integrated rehabilitation in various settings, including inpatient facilities and clients' homes. The caseload is varied, focusing on individuals with mobility, cognitive, and neurological problems.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients with simple to complex needs, with supervision from senior staff.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review occupational therapy treatment/interventions within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Develop and conduct Occupational Therapy intervention, assessing occupational needs and addressing quality of life, physical, cognitive, affective, social, and environmental issues.
  • Use developed physical skills in client interventions, such as upper limb rehabilitation, activities of daily living, and splint fabrication.
  • Devise and manage individual treatment plans through functional rehabilitation, adaptation, equipment provision, education, and health promotion.
  • Supervise students and colleagues as needed.

Essential criteria

  • degree in OT or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • post grad courses - normal movement, counselling, neurology, COOP, Postural management
  • demonstrates active involvement in MDT work
  • demonstrates strong clinical reason skills with assessment and treatment planning
  • demostrates use of safe manual handling practices
