Role summary
This role involves supervising the catering team at Frimley Park Hospital to deliver high-quality ward catering services, enhancing the patient experience. You will support the Food Service Manager, lead and train staff, and ensure excellent standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer care. The position requires previous supervisory experience, ideally in hospitality, and the ability to manage staff effectively in a busy environment. You will also build relationships with clinical teams to meet patients' nutritional needs.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Supervisory Certificate or the equivalent supervisory or managerial experience
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene
Desirable criteria
- Food Hygiene Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering
- Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling
- NEBSS and/or OND qualification and/or similar qualification
- Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to work efficiently with good time management skills
- Strong and effective supervisory skills
- Numeracy and literacy skills and financial awareness
- Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with difficult situations
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Innovative approach to service provision to enable a modern NHS catering service
- Report writing
- Project work
- Good IT Skills
- Essential interpersonal skills
- Experience of managing 50 plus catering team in a patients facing environment
- Customer care experience

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Ward Host Supervisor to join the Catering Team at Frimley Park Hospital.
This is a rewarding role where you will play an important part in enhancing the patient experience by helping to deliver a high-quality ward catering service across the hospital. Working closely with the Food Service Manager (FSM), you will support the day-to-day delivery of patient meal services, ensuring excellent standards of food quality, hygiene, customer care and patient satisfaction are consistently achieved.
You will lead and support your team by planning, organising, motivating and training staff to deliver a professional, caring and efficient service.
You must have previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role, ideally within the hospitality sector or a similar customer-focused service environment, with the ability to lead, support and manage staff effectively in a busy and demanding setting
The role also involves building positive working relationships with ward-based clinical teams to help meet patients' nutritional needs and improve the overall mealtime experience.
