Role summary
This is an exciting development opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join the Hospital@Home pharmacy team. You will work closely with the Senior Clinical Pharmacist to develop this service, which includes frailty same day emergency care and an acute frailty team. The role involves providing medicines support to the Hospital@Home team, including medicines optimisation, reconciliation, and patient advice. You will also be involved in ward running, training, audit, and governance, helping to shape a service that improves care for frailty patients.
Essential criteria
- 4 GCSEs at grade C (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent qualifications recognized by the GPhC).
- Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) (or equivalent qualifications recognized by the GPhC).
- The post holder must meet at least one of the following requirements and will be expected to have commenced another within 12 to 18 months of employment:
- CPPE: Accuracy Checking Pharmacy
- Technician Programme or PETO: Northern Sector Course for Technician Checking of Dispensed Items (PETO Accuracy checkers must be on the northern sector regional technician register)
- North East and North Cumbria Framework for Medicines Management Level 3
- Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (or equivalent)

- Supervisory/management qualifications or training
- Statutory Registration
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Experience as a qualified pharmacy technician in a hospital environment
- Medicines reconciliation experience
- Experience of Project or developmental work

Job summary
We have an exciting development opportunity for a Pharmacy
Technician to join our Hospital@Home pharmacy team. You will work closely with
the Hospital@Home Senior Clinical Pharmacist to develop this service which was
established in 2025. The service also includes a frailty same day emergency
care unit and an acute frailty team within the hospital bringing variety and
opportunities to develop the role.
The role will be based at University Hospital North Durham,
and the pharmacy service runs Monday to Friday during core working hours. There
is no weekend working commitment associated with the role.
You will belong to a team that is committed to supporting
staff health and well-being as well as professional development to help you
achieve your full potential.
You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical
Council (GPhC) and hold a L3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for
Pharmacy Technicians or an equivalent, recognised GPhC qualification.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will as part of a multi-disciplinary team
provide medicines support to the Hospital@Home team. The team includes
Consultant Geriatricians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Therapists. There is
also a pharmacy Hospital@Home team based
