Role summary
This role involves supporting Speech and Language Therapists in delivering rehabilitation programmes to adults recovering from stroke and neurological illnesses. You will manage a delegated caseload, facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, and contribute to patient-centred care across Hertfordshire. The position is community-based, requiring travel to patients' homes and other settings. Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE Level including maths and English
- Good standard of spoken and written English
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic support or equivalent
- Understanding of the post and its duties
- Basic knowledge and understanding of communication disorders.
- Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Understanding of the need to adhere to policies and procedures
- Basic understanding of professional standards
- Previous experience working in an SLT support worker role
- Experience of working in a therapy setting
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of communication facilitation skills
- Understanding of the roles of the members of the multidisciplinary team
- To work both as part of a team and independently
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Able to demonstrate empathy with patients, carers and colleagues.
- Able to communicate effectively, particularly where barriers to understanding exist
- Able to keep legible and accurate patient information and records in English
- To organise themselves and their workload
- Able to identify when to seek support
- To use a computer, Microsoft Office and learn new programmes/ applications

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our friendly, supportive and innovative Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) . Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will provide both clinical and administrative support to Speech and Language Therapists across the Early Supported Discharge (ESD), Community Stroke Team (CST) and Neurorehabilitation Team (NETT) pathways.
