Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse with expertise in Multiple Sclerosis to join the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team. The role involves providing specialist nursing assessment, review, and intervention for people with MS in Walsall, working autonomously to manage a complex caseload. The successful candidate will also oversee care for patients on disease modifying therapies, including developing pathways for emerging treatments, and collaborate with Consultant Neurologists.
Essential criteria
- First level Registered Nurse
- Non-Medical Prescriber
- Evidence of relevant post graduate CPD
- Substantial post registration experience with demonstrable experience within a neurology/MS setting
- Substantial experience at Band 6 level
- Previous experience of managing caseload
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work autonomously and manage large, complex caseload
- Demonstrates expert nursing skills and a clear understanding of Multiple Sclerosis and Neurological Rehabilitation
- Knowledge of adult Community Service needs
- Knowledge regarding the potential impact of Multiple Sclerosis on Psychological wellbeing
- Knowledge of legislation and government white papers that influence service provision for this client group
- Demonstrates a commitment to evidence- based practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in the Community
- Knowledge of risk management and other clinical governance issues and their impact on personal practice and service development
- Skills and Aptitudes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates a commitment to working in partnership with patients and carers
- Ability to communicate effectively in difficult situations
- Ability to act as Clinical Leader and role model for Neurology and Rehabilitation Services
- Able to work unsupervised delivering care to patients
- Confident in managing clinical and professional situations
- Willingness to develop clinical skills as the role demands including independent prescribing
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as an autonomous Practitioner
- Ability to engage in and initiate service development and clinical governance projects
- Ability to pass on skills and knowledge formally or informally
- Ability to utilise counselling skills with patients and carers
- Effective leadership and management skills, including staff supervision and PDR processes
- Flexibility
- Must be willing to work across the 7-day week as the service demands
- Demonstrates the ability to travel frequently throughout the borough and surrounding locations during the working day.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse who is motivated, innovative and is experienced in Multiple Sclerosis, to join the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and desire for improving Multiple Sclerosis services and facilitating care that demonstrates best practice, in the assessment and management of people who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
You will be a highly clinically skilled nurse with good interpersonal and communication skills. You must have 1st level registration with evidence of post registration practice.
The successful candidate needs to be motivated to support the on-going development and management of the Multiple Sclerosis service. Experience of working independently and using own initiative is essential. You must be able to organise your own workload to manage the caseload effectively.
You will need excellent leadership, communication, organisational and supervision skills and sound clinical knowledge.
