Role summary
This role involves day-to-day operational servicing and repairs of electrical systems, focusing on emergency light testing across multiple hospital sites. The post holder will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, undertake fault finding, and participate in an on-call rota. It requires managing maintenance activities and liaising with various teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Essential criteria
- Qualified in line with 17th / 18th Edition Regulations
- Qualified to City and Guilds 2391-52 combined Testing and Inspection.
Desirable criteria
- Hold a current and clean driving licence and be willing and able to commute between sites using their own or Trust vehicles.
- Knowledge of BMS, UPS,Fire and other systems.
- Training
- Completed a Structured (i.e city & guilds) training programme in Electrical Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience. (preferably in an NHS / maintenance setting)
- Completed a recognised Apprenticeship in Electrical engineering
- Ability to interpret detailed reports / instructions and writing reports, collating data and presenting statistically analysed information
- Experience and knowledge of NHS Estates function and operational
- Special Knowledge / Skills
- Able to delegate and priorities own workload and staff under direct management
- Has interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to engage with and manage contractors working on site ensuring Health and Safety and Trust policies are adhered to
- Able to plan at an operational level
- Has good communication skills
- Has ability manage financial and activity budget

Job summary
Taking responsibility for the day-to-day operational servicing and repairs to meet Trust targets for PPM and reactive work and first-time fixes. Working to ensure breakdowns & planned preventative maintenance work undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation and guidance including NHS Health Technical memorandum's (HTM's), Health Building Notes (HBN's), British Standards, European Standards, whilst developing and managing the departmental risk register.
