Role summary
This role is for a skilled and compassionate Psychological Lead Therapist to join the Perinatal Mental Health Team. The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based psychological therapies, including parent-infant interventions, and contribute to service development. Training in parent-infant therapeutic intervention will be provided. The position involves making autonomous clinical decisions and supporting colleagues.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality psychological therapy, including parent-infant interventions, across various settings.
- Make autonomous clinical decisions and contribute to care planning.
- Provide consultation and support to colleagues across the team.
- Assist the Team Manager and Clinical Lead with operational duties and service development.
- Engage in training to deliver specialist therapies that support perinatal mental health and parent-infant relationships.
- Promote a perinatal frame of mind in all aspects of care, enhancing the parent-infant relationship.
Essential criteria
- Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence. AND Experienced of providing therapy in a mental health setting.
- OR Specialist post graduate training to masters level or equivalent in a psychotherapeutic modality AND Experience of providing therapy in a mental health setting AND Accreditation from a recognised Psychological Therapy body ie. BABCP, BACP, UKCP via: (a) Professional route; requiring previous mental health qualification e.g. Clin. Psych., RMN, Dip. SW. or (b) where applicable, the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitude) route (e.g. with the BABCP).
- Experience in relevant area of mental health practise.
- Application of minimum of 2 years delivering evidence based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service
- Clinical leadership experience.
- Evidence based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service. Relevant specialist clinical courses/training. Research awareness Some understanding of the importance of the parent-infant relationship.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing dyadic therapy to parents and infants
- Involvement in innovative clinical practice. Experience delivering psychological therapies to groups of patients. Experience in applying specialist psychological therapies. Experience of delivering psychological therapies to people with psychosis (CBTp/ FI)
- Involvement in clinical research programmes
