Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Band 7 Occupational Therapist to lead the Surgical Therapy Team at Royal Liverpool Hospital. The role involves delivering evidence-based rehabilitation interventions to support recovery and maximise independence for patients across various surgical specialties. You will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, and influencing future service delivery. The position requires leadership skills to develop staff and improve services within a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake assessment of patients with diverse or complex presentations using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
- Implement evidence-based treatment plans considering physical, cognitive, perceptual, psychological, and social functioning.
- Deliver and evaluate treatment programmes using a comprehensive range of options.
- Advise, assist, and educate Band 5 and Band 6 OTs and Student OTs on managing clinically complex patients.
- Supervise Students and Assistants within your team.
- Co-ordinate the effective day-to-day running of your team and ensure effective dissemination of information.
Essential criteria
- BSc or Diploma in OT
- HCPC Registration
- Specialist post-registration qualification
- Evidence of CPD
- Demonstrable postgraduate clinical experience
- Active experience in audit
- Supervision of staff and students
- Teaching of junior staff
- Experience of working with other agencies
- Experience in clinical speciality
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good time management
- Ability to implement change
- Able to demonstrate leadership skills
Desirable criteria
- Leadership course attendance e.g. LEO
