Role summary
This is a rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapist role in mental health, based at Springview Mental Health Unit. The post involves working across various wards, including acute adult mental health, dementia, eating disorders, and PICU. You will conduct holistic assessments, interventions, and manage a diverse caseload to enhance service users' lives through therapeutic activities. This role offers professional development and support within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct holistic assessments and interventions, and support with discharge planning.
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload.
- Facilitate meaningful therapeutic interventions to enhance the lives of service users.
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists, OT Technical Instructors, and the integrated multidisciplinary team.
Essential criteria
- Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy
- State Registration with Health and Care Professions Council

- Knowledge & Expertise
- Some knowledge of current best practice in OT
- Knowledge of assessment tools and outcome measures
- Ability to work autonomously with individuals and groups
- Skills in handling and moving
- Ability to support Occupational Therapy students and support staff
- Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice
- Understanding of team dynamics
- Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, including CPA and risk assessment and management
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Basic knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
- Training and presentation skills
- Has practically applied evidence based practice
- Evidence of research and clinical audit skills
- Application of the occupational therapy process
- Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
- Documented evidence of continuing Professional Development
