Role summary

This role is for a highly motivated Multiskilled Craftsperson to join the Estates Department at Wansbeck General Hospital. The successful candidate will perform day-to-day operation and maintenance of building/engineering services, plant, and equipment across multiple hospital sites. They will also participate in an emergency on-call rota. The position requires significant mechanical and electrical building services experience and the ability to work under pressure.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum BTEC ONC/City & Guilds in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or have an equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Recognised EITB Apprenticeship Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience of working on a wide range of highly complex mechanical and electrical plant undertaking planned maintenance and repairs.

  • Have some experience of 400V emergency standby alternator sets.
  • Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Relevant experience and professional specialist knowledge of working on highly complex multi faceted equipment within a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods.
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Multiskilled Craftsperson to work from Wansbeck General Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside the current multi skilled team to maintain Wansbeck General Hospital, Alnwick Community Hospital, the new and current Berwick infirmary and Rothbury Community Hospital sites. The post is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday and will also take part in the emergency on call rota.

The Post is working for Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be involved in the day to day operation and maintenance of all building/engineering, life and business-critical services, plant and equipment within all Trust and non-Trust properties within their remit, including some installation work.
