Role summary
This role is for an Emergency Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic Practitioner to join the Urgent Treatment Centre at Ashford Hospital. You will work as an independent, autonomous practitioner providing high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with minor illnesses and injuries, including children over 2 and adults. The position involves utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to manage a diverse range of unscheduled medical care needs. Full and part-time hours are available across a 7-day week, with shifts covering 08:00 to 20:00hrs.
Essential criteria
- Minimum 4 years post-registration experience in ED or UTC/walk-in centre.
- Proven track record in relation to research-based practice.
- Experience with audit.
- Experience of managing within a healthcare setting.
- Experience of staff management.
- Evidence of professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
- Registered Nurse Level 1 or HCPC registered paramedic.
- Post-registration diploma or equivalent in advanced assessment skills for non-medical practitioners.
- Post-registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor injury for advanced practice.
- Post-registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor illness/health problems for advanced practice.
- ILS or willingness to undertake.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Non-medical prescriber.
- Organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Broad range of excellent clinical skills.
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Ability to organise the workload, able to delegate and prioritise.
- Good knowledge of health and safety and risk management.
- Computer literate.
- Effective written and verbal skills.

Job summary
With an increasing demand for urgent care, we are seeking the right person/s to join our workforce within our Urgent Treatment Centre . We would welcome applications from Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners, all based within our Hospital in Ashford, Surrey.
The Urgent Treatment Centre provides access to urgent care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As a clinician, you will work as an independent, autonomous practitioner providing high quality, evidence based, patient centred care. Responsible for utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to provide unscheduled medical care and management of a diverse range of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed minor illnesses and injuries. This will include children over the age of 2 and adults.
There are excellent opportunities for training, including non-medical prescribing, with support for this by an experienced Clinical Lead who will encourage your personal development.
