Role summary

This role is for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work across the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit. The successful candidate will assist Registered Nurses in delivering clinical care and carrying out duties under indirect supervision. The position involves supporting patient care sensitive to individual needs and contributing to resource management. Shifts are 12 hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

Key responsibilities

  • To assist in the delivery of clinical care, planned and assessed by the Registered Nurses
  • To carry out care / other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, Practitioner or medic.
  • Support care on a day-to-day basis for all patients in the clinical area in a manner sensitive to the individual clients needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times
  • Contribute to resource management within the clinical area.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ 2 in Health Care, or Equivalent
  • Clinical skills eg venepuncture, blood transfusion, aseptic non touch technique
  • Previous hospital experience
  • Adaptability to cope with changing workload
  • Able to competently organise and carry out designated workload within scope of previous training

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ 3 in Direct Care

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer an opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work across our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit. This will be 12 hour day shifts including weekends and bank holidays.

The UTC and our SDEC are some of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients. It aims to benefit both patients and the healthcare system by reducing waiting times and hospital admissions, where appropriate.
