Role summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Diabetes team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to children and young people with diabetes. The post holder will deliver targeted family support, including adjustment to diagnosis, parenting support, and group interventions. They will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in home, community, and hospital settings. Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Associate qualification.
- Active NMC registration.
- Previous experience working with children and young people in a clinical setting.
- Diabetes knowledge and experience.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child-centred care, and transition to adult services.
- Good IT skills, including use of electronic patient records and digital diabetes platforms.
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of currently available diabetes technology.
- Awereness of BPT and NPDA.
- Experience supporting patients using insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems.
- Experience of participating in quality improvement or service development projects.
- Personal attributes and experience
- To be able to perform under pressure
- To be able to manage own workload
- To be flexible, with capacity to adapt to new workload demands
- To be able to manage own caseload
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, young people, and families.
- Experience in an outpatient, community, or specialist paediatric setting.
- Experience contributing to education programmes for children, young people, and families.
- Possession of valid UK driver's license and access to a vehicle

Main duties of the job
This post will be part of a team who care for children and young people with Diabetes. The post holder will work closely with hospital, community and primary care services.
The key purpose of the role is to deliver high-quality targeted family support to families of children diagnosed with diabetes. The post holder's responsibilities will include- supporting families with adjustment to diagnosis, providing parenting support, supporting clinics, and forging working relationships with local schools and services. They will also be responsible for delivering group interventions for parents and young people.
