Role summary

Join the Woking Community Mental Health Team for Older People as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner. Key responsibilities

  • Ensure provision of necessary physical care for service users (e.g., personal hygiene, diet, mobility).
  • Act respectfully towards service users' customs, individuality, values, sexuality, and spiritual beliefs.
  • Provide therapeutic activities, emotional support, and stability to clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with staff, professionals, and agencies to enhance recovery.
  • Undertake prescribed physical observations (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse) and act appropriately on exceptions.

Essential criteria

  • NMC Registration as a Mental Health Nurse
  • Successful completion of mentorship course
  • Further training or experience to post graduate diploma level or Extensive post registration experience working in Mental Health
  • Subject to reasonable adjustments in respect of any disability, candidates must possess a valid driving licence and be able to drive and have the unrestricted use of a car or motorcycle for work at all times including community based work.
  • Aware of personal and professional boundaries
  • Clinical supervision training

Desirable criteria

  • Clinical supervision training completion

Job summary

Join our Woking Community Mental Health Team for Older People as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner and play a key role in delivering evidence-based, recovery-focused care that empowers adults with complex mental health needs to live independently and thrive. We are currently going through a transformation progress that will lead to an all age Neighbourhood Mental Health Service where your skills and experience can make a valuable contribution. Our Community Mental Health Services are secondary Mental Health Teams who provide assessments for evidence based, time limited treatment and psychological interventions for adults with severe and enduring mental health issues. The focus of our whole service is promoting recovery and independence and developing self-management strategies to encourage people to achieve their potential in the community.

We are a multidisciplinary team who provide advice and support for GPs and work with individuals and their carers and can refer or signpost to a number of statutory, independent and voluntary sector agencies. We seek to work closely with individuals and their families as well as other organisations where consent has been given.
