Role summary

This is a permanent, full-time Band 4 Endoscopy Decontamination Supervisor role at Macclesfield Hospital. The successful candidate will supervise the day-to-day decontamination services for the Endoscopy Unit, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role involves leading the preparation, maintenance, cleaning, and disinfecting of equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, and participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota. It's an opportunity for an experienced decontamination professional to develop leadership skills and contribute to patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate and lead effectively the preparation, maintenance, cleaning and disinfecting of all equipment.
  • Decontaminate all equipment after each procedure.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals on a daily basis according to C.O.S.H.H. guidelines and Trust policies.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of decontamination disposables and that maintenance contracts are in place.
  • Ensure decontamination guidelines are adhered to and updated in conjunction with BSG guidelines.
  • Perform audits as necessary and participate in the 24 hours on call service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 Endoscopy Decontamination Supervisor to join the Endoscopy Team at Macclesfield Hospital. This permanent position offers 37.5 hours per week and plays a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of decontamination services that support the Endoscopy Unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the decontamination service, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, and supporting the development of the decontamination workforce. The post supports a 6-day service operating between 8:00am and 7:00pm, and the postholder will also participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota to ensure continuity of service provision.
